My aim as a designer is not to deliver a Jan Adams design but to listen to my client’s wishes and requirements for their garden and then use my experience and expertise to bring the best out of a site to create a cohesive design.

My clients are quite varied in their desires for their gardens. I work on projects that are very large or quite small, that are private or commercial, that are urban or rural and all receive the same attention to detail that is the key to good garden design

My plant knowledge is extensive as I have been part of the team at Hopleys Plants, who were based in Much Hadham, Hertfordshire, for more years than I wish to remember!  This is a connection which not only involves the hands on side of growing and propagating plants but also the design and creation of exhibits for the major flower shows with many gold medals to our credit.

This background means that my designs use plants that should flourish in their positions because soil, aspect, colour, architectural form and size at maturity have been taken into account. It also means that I am continuously exploring innovative design solutions.
